Back towards the dawn of humankind, we found food, made shelter, and created the basic tools to become more comfortable and efficient at survival. There was always meat, hides to keep warm, seasonal berries and greens, and building materials, yet each colony or "tribe" would have their own extra-special innovation. Through travel and trade, these goods were spread, as well as the knowledge and know-how to produce them. A village's wealth was based on how well they met their needs and beyond.
Now fast forward many, MANY years: Most humans spend the greater portion of their time, ultimately, helping the ones they work for make an excess of money. In turn, their stunted share of this currency is stretched to pay for a roof over their heads, and for "food", not from the tree and the bush, but from grocers and super-stores; in boxes, bags, and sprayed with in-edible chemicals. Millions of humans struggle and stress daily in order to maintain the two rudimentary aspects of basic survival.
So what's changed? Well, many things, but most basically and compassionately spoken: Humankind is out of balance, especially with nature.
I choose the term "out of balance" because I want to highlight the benefits of innovation and technology, married with the sacredness and wisdom given to us through a relationship with the natural world. If we were more connected with the natural world as a whole, we as a species would not have to think twice about meeting our needs, we would build shelters, and grow/harvest/hunt for food. We would make our crafts, and we would live happily. But this is only one side of the coin.
We are also a species of brilliant minds! Though there are many examples of the mind misused, and misguided technologies, there is a wide array of innovations available that can aide us in being healthier, happier, and overall, fulfilled beings. There are resources to inform the masses about how to build green, cultivate clean water and food, produce renewable energy, and communicate our ideas to an endless network of individuals! So why are we struggling as a whole? Because the dominant currency is dictating most any form of exchange, is massively exploited.
So why do we need these paper bills when all of the resources that we need to survive--and to THRIVE--are out there? Well, we don't need it; it just helps. Since the money-system in and of itself is corrupt--not enough is given to the common-man. Therefore, when we rely on it completely, which creates unnecessary stress, and ultimately a shorter and unhappier lifetime. However, if your neighbor has a vegetable garden, and you build water systems, than there is abundance right there! If you make jewelry, and your friend or acquaintance makes clothes, than you both can receive something that makes you feel extra-beautiful. Each of us has our own talents and trades, and once we release the fear of "not-enoughness," then we awaken to a world of endless gifts.
So here's the best part- this is already happening! There are grand movements toward this general sentiment at this junction of humankind. Resources and instructions are being "open-sourced," or released to the public for no cost! Free knowledge, free empowerment=free people. For example, below is a website which has open-sourced a complete list of machines and devices to create a sustainable village...and how to make them! It lists all the parts you would need, the total cost for parts, and the retail cost of the same device. It is called Open-Source Ecology, and can be found at www.opensourceecology.org
There is also an undertaking called The Venus Project, working to ring in Resource-Based Economies. There is an amazing article on the concept found on the website "The Future We Want." For the full article, visit http://futurewewant.org/portfolio/resource-based-economy/
This is PRECISELY the vision we hold for Purple Paradise Resort. We are SO excited to be able to provide holistic health and wellness, education, intertwined with the relaxation, luxury, and child-like sense of uninhibited joy that one would feel on a dream vacation! All of the material and inspiration exist to bring this vision to fruition. We invite you to lend your support to further catalyze our progress, either through our Crowd-Funding campaign on our Contributions page, or by contacting us directly to lend your creative skills.
So feel empowered, our friends! There is no lack in this world, so long as we may perceive the abundance and opportunity that awaits at our doorstep.
